Community links and partnerships

The school community involves more than just students and teachers; it encompasses anyone involved with the school or its members.  For example, family/whanau, local store owners, equipment providers, cleaners and bus drivers to name a few.  Ensuring that your wider school community members feel a part of the school and support your initiatives is important.

With regards to nutrition, positive changes in behaviour are far more likely when a student goes home to a family that support healthy eating, or purchases food from a store that offers healthy options.  The links below provide information on how to work with your wider school community to improve nutrition.

For sustainable change, it is also important to embed healthy eating messages and practices into Curriculum, teaching and learning and School organisation and ethos.
