Community links and partnerships

The school community involves more than just students and teachers; it encompasses anyone involved with the school or its members.  For example, family/whanau, local store owners, cleaners and bus drivers to name a few.  Ensuring that your wider school community members feel a part of the school and support your initiatives is important.

With regards to communicable disease prevention and body care, positive changes in behaviour are far more likely when a student goes home to a family that supports communicable disease prevention and body care, and role models these behaviours.  The links below provide information on how to work with your wider school community to promote communicable disease prevention and body care.

For sustainable change, it is also important to embed sun safety messages and practices into Curriculum, teaching and learning and School organisation and ethos.
