Community links and partnerships

The school community involves more than just students and teachers; it encompasses anyone involved with the school or its members.  For example, family/whanau, local store owners, cleaners and bus drivers to name a few.  Ensuring that your wider school community members feel a part of the school and support your initiatives is important.

With regards to sexual health, positive changes in behaviour are far more likely when a student feels they are part of a family or group that are supportive, loving and prepared to listen.  It is also important that, within the community, information and services supporting sexual health exist and that students are able to access these.  The links below provide information on how to work with your wider school community to promote sexual health. For sustainable change, it is also important to embed sexual health messages and practices into Curriculum, teaching and learning and School organisation and ethos.
